Hello, I’m the founder of The Korea Compass.
I am a senior who has lived in Seoul for more than 55 years. I was born here, raised my family here, and have watched this city change from old alleys to the modern Seoul you see today.
Why I Started This Blog
For many years, I traveled a lot for business and family trips — to Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia. As a traveler myself, I know how difficult it is to be in a country where you don’t speak the language, how to take a taxi, how to exchange money, or how to order food.
But whenever I traveled in Europe, I met so many kind local people who helped me with directions, even when my English was not perfect. Their kindness made my trips unforgettable.
Now it’s my turn to return that kindness.
I love Korea, and I want every foreigner who comes to Korea to feel welcome, safe, and comfortable — just like I felt in Europe. That is why I created The Korea Compass: to be your friendly local compass in Seoul.
